#QuinneyReads
#QuinneyReads 2024 is here! It starts Monday, February 12. We know it came up fast. We wanted to make sure to get it done before Forward Testing starts.
This year teachers will be recording themselves reading part of the book Flora and Ulysses. If you are a teacher reader, you got a separate email. Teachers can choose to have their students listen to the teacher reader as a class, or independently. You can also still read the book yourself to them if you would like to.
There are some activities and books on our #QuinneyReads Google Slide located at the top of the calendar. You can put this whole link into your Google Classroom for students if you want to.
All activities can be put in the place of reading mini lesson, writing, or language workshop times during your week.
If you did not get a book and you would like one to participate, please let one of us know.
Thank you for your support with #QuinneyReads!
Science Curriculum
If you have not had an opportunity to do so yet, please complete this brief form for Elementary Science Curriculum Feedback.
link above and complete this form in regards to your school's current Elementary Science Curriculum. We have an opportunity at the K-4 level to enhance our Science curriculum through the Curriculum Adoption Cycle (CAC) for the 2024/25 school year.
A focus group will be coming together on February 19th to explore MySci, which is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). River View Middle School submitted through the CAC to adopt MySci for Grade 5 and OpenSciEd Grades 6-7 for the 2024/25 school year.
Your feedback on current science practices in teaching and learning are needed as we continuously improve for student learning. Feedback will be used to guide our next steps. Thank you!
Forward Testing
The EQ/NDLC Test Security/Confidentiality Training for any classroom teachers, special education staff, Pupil Service staff and EA's staff that work with 3rd and 4th grade students and may be involved in any way with the WI Forward Assessment is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22nd 3:20-4:20 in the LMC.
The Curriculum and Instruction and Continuous Improvement staff are also sharing a "HUB" that has needed information and resources for the state assessment. Included in this hub is the Test Administration Manual for your review. Staff will continue to use their school's process for testing and we hope that along with that process staff may find a benefit for the one stop shop to seek resources.
Thank you for the attention you give to ensuring student opportunity for a successful assessment!
Check out the WI Forward HUB.
We send thanks and appreciation to our Kobussen bus drivers for their dedication to transporting our students every day. Their support and care to ensure that our students arrive at school and return home safely is crucial to our ability to educate students. We will have a gesture of appreciation for the drivers this spring as we always do, but this week thank you for helping to share your thanks in appreciation of their service and commitment to our district and students.
On Wednesday, SRO Appreciation Day, please help me in expressing our gratitude to our KASD Elementary School Resource Officer, Lucas Meyer, for his support and commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our school community. In his short time his presence and support have made a great impact on our students, staff, and families, and we are fortunate to have him as a part of our team. Thank you Lucas for your tireless efforts and dedication to keeping our school safe and helping us in supporting and nurturing students and their social, emotional, and academic learning.
