Welcome Carrie Forster!

Please help me in welcoming Carrie Forster back to Electa Quinney!!!  Carrie will be joining us beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 27 through October 31st as a long term guest teacher for Hannah Cookey.  Carrie retired in 2020 after teaching in various grade levels, most recently ending teaching 4th grade right in the very classroom Hannah occupies now.  It is a privilege to have Carrie join the team and our school again!!!

Jeffrey Laatsch will complete the second half of guest teaching during Hannah's leave.  We will welcome him Nov. 1 through Dec. 7.  Thank you for helping both Jeff and Carrie feel at home.

A big thanks to Lori Greenthal for stepping in the last two weeks to teach Hannah's class of students!!!

Mrs. Forster and fellow retirees from 2020.
Left to right Ms. Haelke, Mrs. Driessen, Mrs. Forster, Mrs. Wolf.

Walk to School Day Oct. 4

Thanks for signing up to help with Walk to School Day on October 4th!  We have a number of city leaders that will be joining us as well as you can see on the sign-up document linked below.  If you are interested in walking from Jonen Park or Little Tykes Tot Lot we still need more volunteers, lunch recess is available too. Get double benefit time with students outside of the school walls building relationships and the opportunity to get some exercise in/close your Exercise Circle for our Apple Watch wearers.  Join us if you are able.  Click here to SIGN-UP TO WALK from a park or to walk during lunch recess with students.

If anyone has interest in being Quinney Cougar that morning on the school playground to welcome our walkers, 7:35-7:50, let me know!

Check out this blast from the past video from 2017!  Love the Quinney spirit!!!

Important things to review...

School policies and procedures are a part of our daily work.  They are designed to create a safe and orderly learning environment and put in place to protect students, ourselves as staff, and visitors.  There are many policies and procedures as we all know and some in particular that are important for staff to stay in the know.  Here are a few that we want to highlight in particular at this time and we will touch on them at staff meetings in October...
  • Click to view this helpful Seclusion and Physical Restraint document to learn the important ins and outs about the procedures when needing to utilize seclusion or physical restraint with students.  Full policies -- Policy 445 and 445 Rule
  • 5 year Mandatory Reporter Training coming due for School Safety & Abuse and Neglect. Our last training was in 2018 so it is time for an updated training.  DPI is making changes and we will discuss at our October staff meeting about what is needed to complete the updated Mandatory Reporter Training.  Stay tuned.

Frontline (prev. My Learning Plan) Now Ready

The Frontline system is ready for you to begin working in.  The first step is your SLO – Student Learning Objective.  Helpful info is included below...
  • This year you have until November 1st to complete your SLO.
  • SLO is under "Goal Setting Process" in your evaluation are of Frontline.  The document to complete is "Goal Setting Plan".  Your SLO can relate to any of our EQ School Continuous Improvement Plans in Learning and Academics, Safe and Healthy Schools, and Retention/Connectedness.
  • Consider a department or grade level goal as you collaborate and learn together.
  • Self-Assessment – Choose one indicator as a strength in each standard and one indicator as a weakness in each standard.  There are 6 standards.  The  indicators are the statements on the left 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.  So you will have two boxes filled for each standard - one strength and one growth area.  Write in your one sentence reflection for each.  So twelve boxes/sentences in total.
  • PPG – Professional Practice Goal -- The PPG tends to get confusing.  This is NOT/should NOT be the same as your SLO.  It should be, what are you going to do in your “own professional practices” to make an impact on…your SLO goal OR maybe one of the areas you noted for growth on the Self-Assessment.  Here are a few examples so you can see the difference between the two SLO/PPG.  Please note that these examples are very detailed, however, that is not necessarily the expectation in your SLO/PPG.

Homecoming Spirit Oct. 2-6

During the week of Oct. 2-6, Electa Quinney Elementary will be celebrating homecoming along with the High School.  To help all of our elementary students to feel a part of the festivities, we will have dress-up days as follows:

Monday, Oct. 2 :  Disney/Superhero Day
Tuesday, Oct. 3 :    PJ Day
Wednesday, Oct. 4 :   Sports Theme
Thursday, Oct. 5 :   Silly Socks or Hat Day
Friday, Oct. 6 :   Orange/Black Kaukauna Spirit Wear

There will be a parade again this year.  It will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 6:00 PM and will once again be held downtown.  We would like students to enjoy the fun and spirit of the parade so our Elementary Schools will not walk in the homecoming parade.  You can see more detailed information by clicking here.

Sunshine

Sunshine dues for this year at Quinney at $25.00.

Please. . .

  • make checks payable to Electa Quinney with Sunshine in the subject line.

  • put check/cash in an envelope with your name on front.

  • put in Brenda Baranczyk’s mailbox by Friday, September 29.

Part-time staff can divide their dues accordingly based on their hours at Quinney or by how many schools they service. As in the past, $5 of the $25 will be used to support PBIS staff acknowledgements.

The fabulous Sunshine Committee includes the following staff members: Brenda Baranczyk, Kayla Sprangers, Heather Gostisha, and Katie Durrant. Please see one of us if you have questions or if you would like to join the committee.

The current year documents are again located in the EQ Sunshine folder in the Shared Drive in Google. This folder includes. . .

  • Instead of assigning jobs, we have made a sign up genius.  We would like each staff member to volunteer for at least one activity to help with but feel free to sign up for more than one if you would like. You do not need to sign up with your team members - feel free to choose whatever job interests you. Sunshine Sign Up Genius

After your team has completed its job, please upload/scan the menu sign-up pages and any notes that would be helpful for the next team.

Please keep us informed of any happy events, special occasions, funerals etc. that we need to acknowledge.

Lounge Clean Up

Each staff member is asked to sign up for one or two slots.

During your assigned week, please wipe the tables and counters, wipe the microwave if needed, clean and put away any dishes, take dishcloths and towels home to wash at the end of the week, and anything else that may be needed to keep our lounge clean!

Yearbook Pictures

Please add any and all classroom pictures to our 23-24 Yearbook Pictures folder. We are always in need of more photos to use in our school yearbook.

Just a reminder to keep in mind the Do Not Publish Picture List when uploading pictures.

Thank you all!

Background Checks

As we start booking field trips, please remember that your chosen chaperones must have a valid background check on file. Please check with Shaina in the office. HR has stated that only individuals that have been chosen to go on a field trip should be turning in background check forms. Plan accordingly as background checks take about 2-3 weeks to process.

EQ Dine Out Night - Nov. 13

Mark your calendar for a new family dine out option for EQ...

PLAY 60

We hope your school year is off to a great start! Please feel free to share the following NFL PLAY 60 opportunities with your elementary and middle school teachers as you see fit.

NFL PLAY 60 Fitness Breaks
The first NFL PLAY 60 Fitness Break broadcast of the school year is coming up on September 21 at 12 p.m. CT. These free, 15-minute broadcasts help students learn about mental and physical health while adding minutes of movement to their day. Classrooms need to register online to receive the live link, or they can watch on-demand at any time after it airs.  If you want to save the date, the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast will be held on Feb. 8 and an NFL Draft broadcast on April 25. Advanced registration for all three broadcasts is required.

NFL PLAY 60 Movement Moments & NFL PLAY 60 Grants
The second opportunity for students to get active is through a new weekly series of NFL PLAY 60 Movement Moments, which will launch in October and run through December. The Movement Moments feature NFL teams playing each week throughout the season in head-to-head exercise videos from the NFL PLAY 60 Exercise Library, on-demand exercises from the 32 NFL teams. Classrooms will be asked to vote on their favorite team or video at the end of each week, and the three classrooms with the most votes at the end of the Movement Moment series will be eligible for a $1,000 grant to use for physical activity equipment. One national winning school, receiving an additional $1,000 grant, will be named in the Super Bowl Fitness Break broadcast. Registration for the Movement Moment weekly matchup is available on www.heart.org/nflplay60.

NFL PLAY 60 Exercise Library
A full NFL PLAY 60 Exercise Library is available to kids to help them add movement minutes each day. The library which includes 2-3 minute exercise videos from each of the 32 team can be found at heart.org/NFLPLAY60. Teams who submitted new video content for this year will see that loaded very soon!

NFL PLAY 60 App and Fitness Tracking Competition Grant
Lastly the NFL PLAY 60 appfree and available for iOS and Android devices, allows users to select their favorite team and control personalized avatars onscreen with their own physical movement. Users can create custom workouts and earn special PLAY points and unlock cool NFL gear for on-screen PLAY 60 avatars. Launching again, this is the NFL PLAY 60 Fitness Tracking Competition which will run from Jan. 22 to Feb. 9. Using the Group Quickplay feature in the app, students will get active together adding to their classroom’s total activity minutes. At the end of the three-week competition, the classroom with the most activity minutes in each of the 32 NFL markets will receive a $1,000 grant with an additional $1,000 grant being awarded to the top classroom overall.
