Let's Continue to Crush It Together!

Hope you're all feeling the good vibes from last week's PD day! Remember all the great things we can keep purposely include within the four sources of collective efficacy and those sneaky enemies trying to mess with our groove? Here's your new week reminder that we're a powerhouse when we've got each other's backs. Let's kick off this week by bringing that collective energy into play. Crush those enemies of collective efficacy, high-five a colleague, and let's make this week one for the books. You've got this, and we've got each other. Let's do it!

Student Teachers
We said goodbye to Madi Carter last week as she completed her student teaching with Katie Durrant.  Thank you Madi for all you shared with our students and school during your time here!  Good luck as you venture out into your career in education!

We now welcome Annabelle Brown! Annabelle is a UW-GB student and will be Ms. Dercks' student teacher this semester. Thank you for helping her feel welcome and at home.  Annabelle we are excited for you to join our EQ family!

Jan. 15th PD Day

Click here to view the schedule for the PD day on Monday including the EQ specifics.  Your feedback from our first ObserveMe cycle was wonderful to hear at our December PD and matches so well with the next steps in our learning.  On Monday during part of our school continuous improvement time we will dig into what we can continue to do to form and influence our collective efficacy as a school (the sources) and the things that can hinder our collective efficacy (enemies).  We will also touch base briefly on the report cards that you are diligently working on this month and a reminder of how to complete the BIESY.  You will have the afternoon for completing the BIESY, group collaboration, and prep time.

Winter Weather - Winter Weather Expectations

Please click the slideshow title below and review with students for our winter weather expectations when the snow starts flying again.  At our December EA meeting we also discussed the following items to create a common understanding to help us all.
  • Balls can be used on the blacktop when the field is closed as long as it is not being kicked toward the school or toward the road.
  • Snow, mud, or ice must wear boots
  • Snow = boots and snow pants
  • When there is snow on the ground, no boots and snow pants = black top
  • Coats - we are now at the point where just a sweatshirt isn’t ok at recess anymore. They will be sent in to get their coats if they don’t wear them out. If they didn’t bring a coat, they will have the natural consequences of being cold or can get one from Mr. Tom’s Closet.  If you are noticing repetitive forgetting of a coat, please call home to ask for their support.
  • No Rugby!!!!!

Attendance Data

We published some attendance data in November from the start of our year.  The charts below have December added with that month complete.  Let's celebrate that we had less students missing a day of school or more in December than in the prior two months.  Thank you for all the connections and relationships you continue to foster with students and parents. Let's keep that line going in the right direction!

Winter iReady Window

Let me or any of the coaches know if you'd like our assistance at all during the Winter iReady window.  Reference the Jan. 3 email from me.

Click this blue link to see more easily accessible goal setting info.  It includes more printables and etc. to make the process easier if you set goals with students.  We have seen the benefit of discussion, goal setting, bringing awareness/value/importance in iReady and growing as "individuals".

If you feel like you need more understanding and info on Typical Growth and Student Growth here is another handout from iReady but I went through and highlighted for the areas that might be of more interest to help make it a quicker read.

We shared the "how to" to help empower you to know how to open/ close access if you need to based on your assessment schedule. The winter iReady window is from January 2-26.

No need to begin right away on the first day or two back, but as we have learned in past years there is always the potential for absences or unexpected events so please don't wait until the last week or two of the window to start.  More will be shared about the idea of reviewing/setting goals if you did that in the fall with students or wat to do it now. Thank you!
